INTRODUCTION
15th Field Artillery and all US Army Vietnam artillery units
During the Vietnam War, the 7th Battalion/15th Field Artillery was part of larger artillery
groups or commands. Originally, the battalion was part of the 41st Artillery
Group. Later in the war, the 7/15th was under the 52nd Artillery Group. Both
artillery groups were part of First Field Force Vietnam Artillery (IFFV Arty), in the 2
Corps Tactical Zone (CTZ).
The 6th Battalion/15th Artillery was in the 23rd Artillery Group, which was part of Second Field Force Artillery, in the 3 Corps Tactical Zone (CTZ). There were four Tactical Zones in South Vietnam; I Corps was the farthest north just below the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), II Corps included the Central Highlands which was the 7/15th's Area of Operations (AO), III Corps was the 6/15th's AO, and IV Corps included the Mekong Delta and the southernmost parts of Vietnam.
